Oppo Reno 14: Bye bye curves, hello flat design

Oppo’s next Reno series is ditching curves for a flat design, if a recent leak is to be believed. The Reno 14 lineup is expected to feature a flat display, a periscope telephoto camera, a metal frame, and full-scale waterproofing, according to tech tipster Digital Chat Station.

The Oppo Reno 14 series will differ from previous models with its flat display, enhancing both durability and usability. This transition aligns with a broader industry shift towards flat screens for a more refined aesthetic, while the metal frame further solidifies the phone’s premium feel and improves sturdiness.

Beyond design changes, Oppo is expected to introduce a periscope telephoto camera to the Reno series. Additionally, the device is rumored to offer full-scale waterproofing, implying an IP68/69-rated chassis.

The Oppo Reno 14 series is anticipated to launch in the first half of 2025, and models will likely include the Reno 14 and Reno 14 Pro. Pricing is expected to align with the Reno 13 series, which started at 2,699 Yuan for the base model and 3,299 Yuan for the Pro variant.

Detailed specifications remain under wraps, but the Reno 14 Pro may inherit or improve upon the Reno 13 Pro’s hardware, which featured:

  • Processor: MediaTek Dimensity 8350.
  • Display: 6.83-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
  • Rear camera: 50-megapixel triple setup.
  • Battery: 5,800mAh.
  • Charging: 80W wired and 50W wireless.
