AMD has announced that its FidelityFX Super Resolution 4 (FSR 4) AI upscaling and frame generation technology is now compatible with most games that support FSR 3.1 with DirectX 12.
This development is detailed in the patch notes for AMD’s latest 25.9.1 driver, highlighting the expanding compatibility of FSR 4. Initially launched alongside AMD’s RX 9000-series graphics cards in March, FSR 4 is now officially supported in over 85 games.
AMD positions FSR 4 as a significant leap forward compared to FSR 3, emphasizing its use of machine learning algorithms to predict and compensate for pixel loss during low-resolution rendering. According to AMD, this technology delivers high performance and visuals comparable to native resolution, thereby enhancing the gaming experience.
To enable FSR 4 for FSR 3.1-compatible games, gamers can simply toggle a setting within the AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition app. This action overrides the game’s native FSR 3.1 implementation with FSR 4, providing an upgraded visual and performance experience.
Since its initial release, FSR 4 support has been integrated into several prominent titles, including Cyberpunk 2077, Ghost of Tsushima, and F1 25. This integration demonstrates the growing adoption and compatibility of FSR 4 across a wide range of popular games.
