The unreleased Google Nest Doorbell 2K has been spotted on retail shelves, revealing key specifications ahead of its official launch. According to images of the retail box, the device will be branded as “Google Nest Doorbell 2K,” though the back of the box also refers to it as the 3rd-gen model.
A prominent “with Gemini” badge on the packaging confirms the integration of Google’s AI model. The box, obtained by a Reddit user, reveals several specifications, including a 2K (2,048 × 2,048) HDR video camera and a 166° field-of-view, improvements compared to the second-generation Nest Doorbell. The device will also feature night vision, 2-way audio, and weather resistance, with an operating temperature range of –4 °F to 104 °F (–20 °C to 40 °C).
The packaging also indicates that a subscription, sold separately, will be required for certain features, specifically highlighting Gemini and other AI experiences. This aligns with previous leaks suggesting a potential renaming of Nest Aware to Google Home Premium, with a possible second tier called Google Home Premium Advanced.
While the units have appeared on store shelves, they are not yet available for purchase. The timing of the hardware release is speculated to coincide with the scheduled launch of Gemini on Google Home on October 1st. Google has not yet announced an official launch date for the Nest Doorbell 2K or the other new hardware.
