Huawei’s Pura X vertical foldable smartphone has reached a significant milestone, shipping 700,000 units within six months of its launch, as reported by Titanium Media, underscoring its popularity globally.
The Pura X represents a redesign of Huawei’s vertical foldable line, with a focus on enhancing usability for activities such as reading, working, and browsing. This design revamp has apparently resonated with consumers, driving the device’s swift sales. The phone’s initial performance was robust, with 100,000 units sold in the first week alone.
The device is powered by an enhanced Kirin 9020 5G chipset and runs on HarmonyOS 5.0. Additionally, it features a 16:10 wide screen and new screen collaboration capabilities, further contributing to its appeal.
The success of the Pura X has substantially bolstered Huawei’s position in the Chinese foldable smartphone market, enabling the company to secure a 75% market share. Although the Pura X has not been officially launched globally, its strong sales to date potentially position it competitively against rivals such as the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Motorola foldables.
Looking to the future, rumors indicate that Huawei is working on a new “Pura foldable” model, which is expected to feature an even wider screen and additional features compared to the existing Pura X. Further details about this upcoming device are anticipated as development progresses.
