Google is reportedly on the verge of launching a new lineup of Nest products, marking the first significant update to the brand since 2021, with a range of innovative smart home devices.
The new Google Home Speaker is set to stand out from its predecessors by leveraging the Gemini AI model, a departure from the traditional Google Assistant. This shift is expected to bring enhanced functionality and user experience to the smart speaker.
The Nest Cam Indoor is also slated for an upgrade, with its resolution being bumped up from 1080p to 2K, resulting in sharper video quality. Additionally, this indoor camera will feature zoom and crop capabilities, allowing users to focus on specific areas of interest. It will also have local storage for up to one hour of footage in case of internet outages, ensuring that users can still access important footage even without a stable internet connection.
The Nest Cam Outdoor will mirror the indoor version’s enhancements, boasting 2K resolution, zoom/crop functionality, and local storage. The new Nest wired doorbell camera will also incorporate these upgraded features, providing users with a comprehensive smart home security solution.
A notable feature across all new camera-enabled devices is “Daily Summaries,” a Gemini-powered tool designed to provide users with concise recaps of the day’s events captured by the cameras. This feature is expected to enhance the overall user experience, making it easier for users to stay on top of their home’s security and activity.
While a specific release date has not been announced, the report suggests that the new Nest products are expected to arrive “very soon.” This refresh comes after a four-year gap in new Nest product releases, indicating a substantial commitment from Google to revitalize its smart home offerings.
