Google has unveiled its latest smartphone lineup, the Pixel 10 series, featuring the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL, during its Made by Google event, with a key highlight being the integration of the new Tensor G5 processor.
A significant upgrade for the standard Pixel 10 is the introduction of a triple-camera system, marking the first time Google has incorporated this setup in its base model. The Pixel 10 now boasts a telephoto lens, enabling 5x optical zoom and 20x digital zoom through Super Res Zoom, a notable enhancement from the Pixel 9’s dual-camera setup.
The primary camera features a 48-megapixel wide sensor, incorporating Quad phase detection for improved low-light focus, alongside a 13-megapixel ultrawide sensor. The Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL feature an advanced 50-megapixel wide sensor equipped with optical stabilization and Super Res Zoom (up to 20x) specifically optimized for video recording. Furthermore, these models include a 50-megapixel telephoto camera, offering 5x optical zoom and an extended 100x Super Res digital zoom.
Display sizes remain consistent with previous iterations. The Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro both feature a 6.3-inch display, while the Pixel 10 Pro XL sports a larger 6.8-inch display. Powering the entire Pixel 10 series is Google’s custom-designed Tensor G5 chip, accompanied by the Titan M2 security chip and a dedicated image processing unit. According to Google, the Tensor G5 delivers a 34% increase in CPU performance and a 60% improvement in TPU (Tensor Processing Unit) performance compared to its predecessor, facilitating faster processing speeds and enabling new AI-driven features.
Building upon the introduction of Gemini as the default assistant in the Pixel 9, Google continues to expand its AI capabilities. Gemini Live has been upgraded with visual overlays for real-time guidance during video calls, allowing the assistant to provide directions and highlight specific elements on the screen. A new feature called Magic Cue is designed to surface contextual information from various apps. a phone call with a phone call with an airline, Magic Cue can automatically display flight details from the user’s email or retrieve restaurant reservation information during a conversation with a friend.
The camera interface now includes a Gemini-powered camera coach, offering real-time suggestions on framing and composition to help users capture better photos. The Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro retain the same starting prices as their predecessors, at $799 and $999, respectively. However, the Pixel 10 Pro XL now starts at $1,199, a slight increase from the previous $1,099, and comes with a base storage of 256GB.
