Hyperkin is set to release its “Competitor” Xbox controller in October for $49.99, a product initially teased in 2019, with the final design unveiled at CES 2025.
The Competitor controller will be available in different color variants across regions. In North America, it will be available in black and white, while Europe and Australia will have additional options including red, blue, and gold versions. The latter colors are also planned for a later release in North America.
The Competitor distinguishes itself with several notable features, including a symmetrical joystick layout, drawing comparisons to the PlayStation DualSense controller. It is equipped with Hall effect joysticks designed to prevent stick drift, impulse triggers, separated D-pad buttons, back buttons with locks, and a dedicated mic mute button. Notably, the controller is wired-only and does not include advanced haptic feedback or adaptive triggers.
Hyperkin had previously revealed a less exciting design in 2023, but the eventual design has fully embraced comparisons to PlayStation controllers, indicating a significant evolution in the product’s development.
