A Reddit user has reportedly leaked images of a potential new Kindle prototype featuring a color E Ink display, sparking interest in Amazon’s possible new e-reader.
The device, potentially named “Kindle Petit Color,” though the name is unconfirmed, is described as a small Kindle with enhanced color capabilities. According to the Redditor, the prototype’s screen colors are “much better than the Colorsoft,” and users can adjust the intensity and saturation of individual colors.
The device’s screen bezels resemble those of Amazon’s entry-level black-and-white Kindle, but the prototype is claimed to be slightly smaller than the 11th-generation Kindle. The user interface of the prototype reportedly leverages the color E Ink screen, allowing customization of battery, Wi-Fi, and shopping cart icons, as well as the reading progress status bar.
Ebook text can also be colored, dynamically transitioning through four shades as a reader progresses, providing a visual cue for nearing the end of a book. These images and details remain unconfirmed, and while Amazon has been expanding its color-screen Kindle lineup, the information should be viewed with caution.
