Microsoft is aggressively promoting its Copilot AI to Bing users, specifically when they search for competing AI chatbots like OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Google’s Gemini, or Anthropic’s Claude.
According to a report from Windows Latest, users encountering promotional banners are encouraged to redirect their queries to Microsoft’s AI service. Upon clicking, the Copilot website opens with relevant results displayed prominently. The banners feature the phrase “Your Copilot is here,” directing users to the AI service.
Copilot’s results appear at the top of search results for rival AI services, accompanied by the message, “Effortlessly ask questions, generate images, and handle tasks with Copilot, your reliable companion.” The promotion is discreetly labeled as an advertisement with the fine print “promoted by Microsoft.” This marketing strategy is reminiscent of Google’s approach, which promotes its Gemini AI and AI search features on its platform.
Microsoft has been integrating its AI into various products, including its browser, with the recent introduction of Copilot Mode in Microsoft Edge, further expanding its AI capabilities.
