TikTok has introduced a new app version, “TikTok Pro,” in Germany, Portugal, and Spain, featuring its “Sunshine Programme” charity initiative, allowing users to support charitable causes while using the platform.
The “Sunshine Programme” enables users to earn “virtual sunshine” by inviting others to join TikTok Pro and engaging with charity content, such as liking videos, reposting, following charity accounts, or searching for causes. As users accumulate virtual sunshine, they can donate it to their chosen charities, prompting TikTok to make actual financial donations.
TikTok Pro offers the same content as the regular TikTok app but with significant differences: it lacks livestreams, shopping capabilities, and advertisements, providing an ad-free experience. According to the company, the primary objective of TikTok Pro is “to enable people in Europe to support charitable organizations while discovering engaging and entertaining TikTok content.”
By eliminating key features like livestreams and advertisements, TikTok aims to create a unique environment where users can focus on supporting charitable causes. The introduction of TikTok Pro and the “Sunshine Programme” demonstrates the company’s efforts to promote philanthropy and provide a distinct user experience.
