Huawei’s Mate 70 series smartphones are nearing a significant sales milestone, with the company rapidly approaching 10 million units sold globally.
According to tipster DigitalChatStation, Huawei had sold around 6.3 million units of the Mate 70 lineup as of July 27, 2025. Following this strong performance, the series is now advancing towards the 8 to 10 million sales benchmark. Despite this momentum, the Mate 70 series’ sales trajectory is currently tracking below its predecessor, the Mate 60 series, which reportedly surpassed 14 million unit shipments, driven significantly by market demand for its 5G-enabled chipset.
The Mate 70 series represents Huawei’s most powerful smartphone offering to date and faces a competitive challenge. TechInsights analysts previously predicted that the series might struggle to outsell the Mate 60 lineup during the fourth quarter of 2024. While market interest appears to be growing, whether the Mate 70 can ultimately exceed the Mate 60’s sales success before the arrival of its successor remains uncertain.
Looking ahead, Huawei has already commenced development on the next generation, the Mate 80 series. Early leaks suggest the Mate 80 family will feature substantial upgrades across key specifications. Rumored enhancements include the introduction of cooling fan technology, an upgraded Kirin chipset, an improved GPU, enhanced satellite communication capabilities, and a superior periscope camera system compared to the Pura 80 Ultra. The lineup may also incorporate fresh screen solutions designed to elevate the visual experience.
