Microsoft’s Copilot web app has revealed references to GPT-5, suggesting a potential integration with OpenAI’s upcoming language model, indicating a possible significant upgrade to its AI assistant.
A newly discovered “smart mode” is designed to allow Copilot to automatically choose the most suitable AI model for each user request, streamlining the user experience by removing the need for manual model selection. This feature is expected to enhance the overall efficiency of the AI assistant.
Although the findings point to the possibility of GPT-5 integration, Copilot’s internal versions currently rely on GPT-4, and there is no official mention of GPT-5 within the Copilot app itself.
Given Microsoft’s history of quickly incorporating new OpenAI models into Copilot upon their release, a swift adoption of GPT-5 is plausible. However, when approached for comment, Microsoft declined to address the GPT-5 references or the new smart mode.
