Activision has unveiled details for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Season 5, scheduled to launch on August 7, promising a wealth of new content across Black Ops 6, Zombies, and Warzone.
The update aims to “unleash your inner action hero” with six new modes, four new and/or remastered maps, new weapons, updates, and enemies. According to Activision, “The Rogue Black Ops team is finally back in the good graces of the CIA, and that means access to all the weapons and firepower they could ask for. It’s time to finish the job they started and crush the final Pantheon moles, putting their betrayal to rest once and for all.”
Black Ops 6 will receive three new maps: Runway (6v6), Exchange (6v6, 2v2), and the remastered WMD (World Motor Dynasty) (6v6). Additionally, an in-season update will introduce the Jackpot (6v6) map. Warzone will feature a Stadium Point of Interest (POI) update in Verdansk. New modes coming to Black Ops 6 include Aim High, Snipers Only, Cranked Moshpit, and in-season updates to Cranked Demolition, Blueprint Gunfight, and Ransack.
Warzone will get Limited-Time Modes (LTMs) such as Stadium Resurgence and Deadline. It will also be enriched with new cosmetics, weapon attachments, bundles, and a series of limited-time events like 90 Action Heroes, Atomic Block Party, and Operation: Hell Ride. Players will be tasked to “Breach the stadium in possibly the most impressively explosive way possible as you and other enemy squads attempt to complete the multi-step Satellite Hijack Contract.”
Recent intelligence indicates a massive disruption across Verdansk is imminent, as recon teams have confirmed the existence of a clandestine military base hidden within the sealed walls of the National Acropolis Arena. The extent of the threat remains unclear, though a weapon capable of large-scale destruction is expected to be unearthed within the vicinity.
Season 5 will continue to offer a range of rewards, including charms, emblems, calling cards, stickers, and weapon skins, for participating in ranked play in both Black Ops 6’s multiplayer and Warzone’s battle royale. Activision addressed adjustments to Warzone’s solo play options, stating that both Core and Casual Solos will be available globally upon the Season 5 launch, but after a couple of days, Core Solos will be limited to players in North America and Europe.
The Zombies mode will also receive significant updates, including a new map called Reckoning and a new Wonder Weapon named Gorgofex. The Gorgofex is described as combining fungal, floral, and insectile traits to “deliver precise impact damage and gravity-defying disruption in close quarters, glowing membranes on the weapon show hints of motion and circulation under the surface.”
In other Call of Duty news, Activision recently unshackled Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 from the Call of Duty HQ launcher. Details about Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 have emerged, with the game expected to feature Skirmish and Overload multiplayer modes, as well as a 20v20 wingsuit option.
