Apple is reportedly on the verge of a significant design overhaul with its upcoming iPhone 17 series, which is expected to feature a “radical new color” along with other anticipated changes.
The new color, according to sources, is specifically designed to complement the “Liquid Glass” design language of the forthcoming iOS 26. What makes this color particularly noteworthy is its rumored dynamic nature: while initially appearing white, it will exhibit “different effects under different light.”
A reputable Apple leaker on Weibo first revealed this detail, suggesting a holographic, iridescent, or highly reflective finish, a significant departure from Apple’s traditional approach. Historically, iPhones have featured single, static hues, predominantly in silver, gray, or space gray, with brighter options emerging only recently.
This move indicates Apple’s intent to embrace its “Think Different” philosophy with the iPhone 17. Whether these design innovations will re-energize interest in the iPhone remains to be seen, especially given the company’s recent challenges. The iPhone 17 series is also expected to include the anticipated iPhone 17 Air model and a redesigned camera array for the iPhone 17 Pro.
