Apple’s M5 iPad Pro to Feature Dual Front Cameras

Apple’s M5 iPad Pro to Feature Dual Front Cameras

Apple is reportedly planning a significant alteration to the front-facing camera system of its forthcoming M5 iPad Pro, expected to launch later this year. This change follows a previous design modification in last year’s M4 iPad Pro, which relocated the front camera from the top to the side of the device.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, in his “Power On” newsletter, the M5 iPad Pro will feature dual front-facing cameras. Gurman states, “Apple is apparently adding a second, portrait-side front-facing camera to the upcoming M5 iPad Pro, presumably so FaceTimers and selfie fans can use the device equally well in either orientation. This isn’t particularly revolutionary, but it’s a nice enhancement.”

This rumored addition appears to be a direct response to user complaints regarding the M4 iPad Pro’s camera placement, which moved it to the landscape side. While some have not observed widespread dissatisfaction with the M4’s camera relocation, the inclusion of a second camera aims to offer greater flexibility for users, regardless of the iPad’s orientation.

Beyond the camera enhancements and the more powerful M5 chip, no other major revisions are anticipated for the M5 iPad Pro. Notably, the M5 iPad Pro will be Apple’s inaugural device powered by the M5 chip. The first M5-equipped Mac computers are not expected to debut until the first half of 2026.
