A new Apple TV is anticipated for release later this year, potentially featuring significant upgrades based on recent rumors. The device is expected to incorporate Apple’s combined Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip, supporting either Wi-Fi 6E or the even faster Wi-Fi 7.
This represents a substantial improvement over the current Wi-Fi 6, as Wi-Fi 7 could offer peak theoretical speeds over 40 Gbps. The next iteration will likely feature a newer chip, such as an A18 or A19, enhancing overall performance and possibly enabling Apple Intelligence support on tvOS.
There’s speculation about a built-in FaceTime camera and gesture controls, moving beyond the current reliance on connected iPhones or iPads for video calls. tvOS 26 is set to improve FaceTime with features like Contact Posters and expanded Live Captions for various languages.
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggests a “more affordable” price point, potentially under $100, aligning with past Apple TV models and competitive market trends. The current model starts at $129.
The release is predicted for late 2024, possibly in September or October, though November or December are not ruled out.
