Amazon Web Services (AWS) is launching an AI agent marketplace on July 15 at the AWS Summit in New York City, with Anthropic as a key partner, according to TechCrunch. This new platform is set to revolutionize the distribution of AI agents.
The marketplace aims to address the challenge of AI agent distribution, which often sees companies offering agents in silos. By enabling startups to directly offer their AI agents to AWS customers, the platform will provide enterprises with a centralized location to browse, install, and select AI agents based on their specific needs. This development is expected to significantly boost partners like Anthropic, which views AI agents as crucial for its future and recently hit $3 billion in annualized revenue.
AWS will take a revenue cut from agent installations, similar to other online marketplaces. Although AWS is not the first to enter this space—Google Cloud launched an AI Agent Marketplace in April and Microsoft introduced Agent Store in May—its entry is anticipated to simplify access to AI agents for a broad customer base.
