Google is set to unveil its Pixel 10 series smartphones on August 20, 2025, with a release date anticipated for August 28, 2025, bringing with it several significant upgrades and enhancements.

A notable upgrade expected in the new lineup is the telephoto camera’s enhanced capability to capture macro shots, effectively transforming it into a “tele-macro” lens. This development is expected to significantly improve the camera’s versatility, allowing users to capture high-quality images from a distance.

Interestingly, Google is also expected to maintain autofocus functionality in its Pixel 10’s ultrawide cameras. This means users will continue to have macro capabilities through the ultrawide lens as well. Sources suggest that the ultrawide camera will be able to focus on objects closer than the telephoto lens, giving users a choice between the two for close-up photography. The logic would dictate using the telephoto lens unless the object is closer than its minimum focusing distance, in which case the ultrawide lens would be the suitable alternative.

The Pixel 10 devices are rumored to be powered by the Tensor G5 SoC, marking a shift in manufacturing to TSMC. This move is expected to yield improved performance and efficiency compared to previous Samsung-made Tensor chips. This change is significant as it indicates Google’s efforts to optimize the performance of its devices.

In addition to hardware upgrades, Google is also revamping the color options available for the Pixel 10 series. Furthermore, all Pixel 10 models are expected to support Qi2 wireless charging. However, unlike Apple’s approach, the Pixel 10 will not feature built-in magnets for Qi2. Instead, Google’s official cases will incorporate the necessary magnets for seamless Qi2 compatibility.

These anticipated features and changes suggest a significant upgrade for the Pixel 10 series, focusing on camera versatility, performance enhancements, and convenient wireless charging solutions.
