Google has announced an update to its Gemini 2.5 Pro preview model, claiming enhanced capabilities in certain programming tasks, building upon the earlier Gemini 2.5 Pro upgrade revealed approximately a month ago.
The updated Gemini 2.5 Pro is available immediately through Google’s AI developer platforms, AI Studio and Vertex AI, as well as the Gemini app. General availability for the model is expected in a “couple of weeks,” according to the company.
In a blog post, Google stated that the Gemini 2.5 Pro “continues to excel at coding, leading on difficult coding benchmarks.” The company also highlighted the model’s performance on challenging evaluations, noting it “shows top-tier performance [on] highly challenging benchmarks that evaluate a model’s math, science, knowledge, and reasoning capabilities.”
Beyond improved coding abilities, Google indicated that the update incorporates feedback from the previous 2.5 Pro release, leading to improvements in the model’s style and structure. The company claims the updated 2.5 Pro can now be “more creative with better-formatted responses.”
