Samsung has confirmed the upcoming launch of the Galaxy Z Fold7 Ultra, a new premium foldable device set to arrive later this year alongside the standard Galaxy Z Fold7, Galaxy Z Flip7, and Galaxy Z Flip7 FE.
Industry speculation indicates that Samsung plans to unveil this new generation of foldables at an in-person event in New York in early July. The teaser for the Galaxy Z Fold7 Ultra highlights its slim profile, with Samsung noting that it will be thinner than both the current Galaxy Z Fold6, which measures 5.6mm when unfolded, and the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, known as the Samsung W25 in China, with an unfolded thickness of 4.9mm.
The Galaxy Z Fold7 Ultra is also touted to have a “best-in-class camera,” a significant claim given the strong photographic capabilities of competing foldable devices such as the vivo X Fold3 Pro. The introduction of a Fold Ultra variant is not entirely surprising, as a premium version was anticipated during the Galaxy Z Fold6 generation, although it did not materialize at that time.
Samsung later released the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition in South Korea, and as the Samsung W25 in China, in late October. This model featured larger displays, including an 8-inch main screen and a 6.5-inch cover screen, a high-resolution 200MP main camera, and 16GB of RAM, all packaged in a thinner and lighter design compared to previous iterations.
